The "Kids Grow Up... So Should Your Parenting." Campaign was our multi-week, multimedia campaign geared towards encouraging healthy conversations between adults and young people, promoting clear and consistent messages.
For seven weeks, the following postcards were sent to all the homes of Newburyport High School students. Each week focused on a different topic, including the legality of marijuana and underage drinking, sexual health and each card provided adults with statistics and facts to build a groundwork from where parents could engage young people in their lives in what can be challenging conversations. These postcards were also converted into advertisements in The Daily News on a weekly basis to reach other community members.
In conjunction with the Newburyport High School Theatre Department's cast of "RENT: School Edition", we were able to create six public service announcements that were also emailed to parents over the course of our campaign. These PSAs were created as a tool to inform adults on ways to talk (or not to talk) to youth, the importance of being positive role models and Social Host laws. Here's one of our favorites:
The rest of the PSAs from the campaign, and even more videos, can be seen on our YouTube channel, BEACONCO.
